How often we have ventured towards those gleaming cosmetics counters, all beautifully merchandised. The make-up tester stand with rows of lipsticks, glosses and bright eye shadows enough to send any toddler into a frenzy at the mere sight of it all!

Feeling much like a toddler yourself, you stare at it and then breathe a sigh of relief when you notice the cosmetics consultant is not at her counter. You no sooner start testing the lipsticks on your hand that you hear a voice behind you saying “may I help you?” Your heart sinks into your shoes with disappointment. You mumble back, “I’m just looking” and before your sentence is even cold, she says “are you looking for anything in particular?” Now you must think fast, if you say, “no, I am just looking”, she is probably going to ask if she could show you their new products. If you say “yes, I need a new lipstick” she is probably going to move you along and get you to sit in the make-up chair for a make-over. Thirty minutes later, a shopping bag bulging with products and a hefty bill, you leave the store… Once again you have been bombarded into purchasing a whole bunch of products that you actually don’t need. You only wanted to buy a new lipstick! Having worked on the other side of the cosmetics counter for quite a few years, I knew that if I could convince the customer to sit down in my make-up chair, I am almost guaranteed a good sale. This is where you get up close and personal with your customer and the conversation is far more relaxed as you tell her about what you are doing and the benefit of each product you put on her skin. You are far more likely to purchase a product if you are relaxed, see and feel the products on your skin. This is where I come in…. The 3 hour “Let’s Shop” consultation begins with a complete makeup bag makeover. We will go through your products one by one and decide on what to keep and what to toss. Once done, we will make a shopping list for the new products and divide them into “must haves” and “love to haves.” Then the fun begins…we go shopping!! We will shop for products from different brands (or one brand if preferred) to suit your individual needs and budget.
